Privacy Policy

Short version: we collect the minimum we need to send your digest, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything with one click.

Who we are

Postcode Pulse is operated by Productiversed Ltd. When we say "we", "us" or "our" in this policy, that's who we mean. Our contact email is hello@postcodepulse.uk.

What we collect

Subscribers: We collect your email address and postcode when you sign up. If you sign up via Facebook, we may also receive your first and last name. If you subscribe to Pulse+, Stripe processes your payment. We never see or store your card details.

Tradespeople and advertisers: If you enquire about a listing, we collect your name, email, phone number, business name, and trade category. We also gather publicly available business information (business name, address, phone number, trade category) from sources including Google Places and online directories to identify local tradespeople who may benefit from advertising in the digest.

Why we collect it

Your postcode tells us which digest to send you. Your email address is where we send it. We also use aggregated, anonymised signup data (e.g. "42 people signed up in DE56 this week") to decide which areas to launch next. We never use your individual data for this.

How we store it

Subscriber data is stored in Mailchimp (email delivery, US-based, UK GDPR compliant via Standard Contractual Clauses) and, for Pulse+ subscribers, Stripe (payment processing). Tradesperson and advertiser data is also stored in our pipeline database, hosted on a UK-based server (DigitalOcean, London). We use Zapier to connect these services, for example routing form submissions to Mailchimp.

Who we share it with

We share your data only with the services needed to run Postcode Pulse: Mailchimp (email delivery), Stripe (payment processing for Pulse+ subscribers only), Netlify (website hosting, which may log your IP address in server logs), Zapier (workflow automation), and DigitalOcean (server hosting). We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data with anyone. We never share your email address with advertisers or sponsors.

Cookies

The Postcode Pulse website does not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking cookies. No tracking scripts are installed. If you subscribe via Mailchimp, their embedded forms may set a functional cookie to prevent duplicate submissions.

Advertising

The free weekly digest does not contain any sponsored content. The Pulse+ paid monthly edition may contain sponsored sections from local businesses. These are clearly labelled. Sponsors never have access to your personal data. We select sponsors based on relevance to the section and your postcode area, not your individual browsing behaviour or personal information.

Lawful basis

We process subscriber data on the basis of consent (you signed up). We process Pulse+ payment data on the basis of contract (your subscription). We process tradesperson business data on the basis of legitimate interest (B2B outreach about advertising opportunities relevant to your trade area). You can object to this processing at any time by contacting us.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access your data (ask us for a copy), correct it, delete it, or withdraw consent at any time. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we remove your data from our mailing list within 48 hours. If you want everything deleted immediately, email hello@postcodepulse.uk and we'll sort it the same day.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we delete your email and postcode within 30 days. Stripe retains payment records for Pulse+ subscribers as required by financial regulations.

Children

Postcode Pulse is not directed at anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, please contact us and we'll delete their data immediately.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, if the changes are significant, we'll let you know by email. We won't reduce your rights without asking.
